Mold presents very serious health risks unless removed quickly. While most of the health problems that are caused by mold are as minor as a cough or runny nose, these symptoms can also be life threatening. These risks are particularly problematic for infants, younger children, and elderly individuals.
If you or someone else in the household are suffering from respiratory disorders like emphysema and asthma, mold can cause these disorders to worsen. Although mold adversely affects some people more than others, it’s a substance that can affect even healthy young adults. Some of the additional dangers of mold include:
- Hives
- Sneezing
- Allergic reactions
- Sore throat
- Depression
- Issues with concentrating
- Bleeding within your lungs
- Pneumonia
